BT-50 Bloody Terrific!

BT-50 features new generation 2.5 and 3.0 litre turbo diesel engines with advanced common-rail direct injection for superb performance and excellent fuel economy.

Built on a rugged ladder frame chassis that can operate fully loaded on or off-road and strengthened by a unique overlapped, cross-braced design, its high rigidity delivers outstanding handling, ride, load carrying and safety.

Whether you prefer 4x2 or 4x4 you've got the choice of Single Cab Chassis, Freestyle Cab Chassis or Utility and Dual Cab Utility configurations. The 4x2 Single Cab Chassis features a 2.5L turbo diesel engine while all other 4x2 and 4x4 models are powered by a high torque 3.0L engine and feature a 'high rider' stance.

Interior

While inheriting all the merits of tough truck performance, the Mazda BT-50 also brings a new level of passenger car-like comfort and convenience to the cabin's interior.

High quality materials and craftsmanship in the cabin, complements a modern design, which includes clear instruments and silver highlights for a sporty feel.

Individual front seats boast springs that adapt to your individual shape, while seat backs are contoured for maximum support. The seats feature a superb balance of comfort and softness that makes them among the best in the class.

Some models feature a large rear console which adopts a double-decker structure with a large armrest on the top of the console lid, which opens to reveal a 1.7-litre upper box and 5-litre lower box.

The Mazda BT-50 is equipped with the same advanced audio systems that are available on Mazda passenger cars, offering quality sound. The new modular system begins with a base configuration that includes an AM/FM digital tuner with a CD player or on high-grade SDX models a new in-dash 6-disc CD player. Both support MP3 playback.

Exterior

The Mazda BT-50 features a tough new look with a passenger car-like level of fit and finish and a high level of craftsmanship. Clean, flowing curves on each part of the body aim to produce a more modern, sophisticated expression.

The BT-50's headlights are designed for a clean look, with multi-reflector and side indicator lamp mounted together, SDX models feature front fog lights as standard.

Front and rear over fenders added to all 4x4 models are large and adopt a slightly rounded shape to create a tough and stylish expression. The 4x2 models adopt fenders with a similar curvature, which realise sophisticated styling that distinguish the BT-50 from the rest.

All DX and DX+ utilities feature a black rear step bumper while SDX utilities are equipped with a large chrome rear step bumper. Mirrors, door and tailgate handles are chrome plated on high grade SDX models to match.

Performance

Work or play, Mazda BT-50 delivers a load of power. New generation 2.5 and 3.0 litre DOHC, 16 valve turbo diesel engines feature advanced common-rail direct injection with a variable geometry turbocharger and large intercooler for optimum turbo performance and durability.

Put simply this all means BT-50 engines are responsive and refined, with plenty of pulling power right through the rev range. This flat torque curve makes towing and carrying heavy loads a cinch, at the same time giving you instant acceleration. The precise combustion of common-rail injection also means you'll go further between fills and helps cut emissions.

The 5-speed manual transmission is made tough to work with the powerful engines. With triple-cone synchronisers on first and second gears, it delivers smooth, crisp shifting. The 5-speed automatic transmission (optional on 4x4 Dual Cab SDX) features closely-spaced ratios and precise electronic control of shifting. Acceleration and economy are maximised as a result.

BT-50 is built to take the rough stuff while treating you to a smooth ride. The tough independent double wishbone front suspension has been designed to reduce harshness on unmade roads. At the rear axle, large leaf springs maximise ride comfort and durability. Big shock absorbers feature all-round and are built to take the punishment. They also give BT-50 a car-like ride.
