The new CX-7 is the ultimate SUV crossover, combining sports car attributes with SUV capabilities.

Powered by the same 2.3 litre Direct Injection Spark Ignition (DISI) turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine as found in the Mazda6 MPS and Mazda3 MPS, the CX-7 delivers an outstanding 175kW of power and 350Nm of torque.

To assist in transferring that power to the road the CX-7 also features a similar Active Torque Split (ATS) AWD system to that found in the Mazda6 MPS. This ensures that optimum torque is distributed to each wheel for maximum traction in dry, wet, bitumen, gravel or snow.

With standard performance and safety features such as Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), your CX-7 will perform well above expectations.

The CX-7's standard features include; 6-speed Activematic transmission, air-conditioning, remote central locking, 'dual stage' door unlocking, DSC, TCS, ABS, six SRS airbags, power operated windows and mirrors, an MP3 compatible 6-disc CD player and auto headlamps on/off function.

Interior

The CX-7's interior is spacious and has generous seating for five. Comfortable seats that support passengers and are designed to absorb excessive vibration created by rough roads.

A 60/40 split fold rear seat opens up a large flat cargo area, which is ideal for loading items such as, camping gear, ski/snowboards, surfboards and mountain bikes, no matter what the requirement the CX-7 can adapt to your lifestyle.

The rear seat flat fold function can be activated from the rear seats, or can be quickly transformed with just a flick of a lever in the cargo area.

All models include air-conditioning, 6-disc CD player (MP3 compatible) power windows and mirrors, trip computer, cruise control, leather steering wheel and shift knob, steering wheel cruise and audio controls, large storage compartments and a lockable centre console.

The top of the range CX-7 Luxury adds a sun-roof, climate control air-conditioning, leather seats (heated front) and a power adjustable driver's seat.

CX-7 Luxury also includes a 240W premium Bose® amplifier with Centerpoint® surround sound and Audio Pilot® noise compensation technologies. The Centerpoint® surround sound system envelopes you in the music and adds depth to all your favourite tracks. Audio Pilot® noise compensation system adjusts the sound automatically to mask road noise and provide a crystal clear music experience.

From front to back the CX-7 demands attention, with sleek window design, to accentuated wheel arches and a road presence that commands respect.

Ultra-sleek, 66 degree windscreen not only looks great but assists in reducing wind noise and improving fuel economy.

Fog lights as standard features, provides better visibility in all driving conditions, other standard features such as a spoiler and dual chrome exhausts, enhance the vehicles appearance.

18" alloy wheels as standard for all grades and a sunroof in the top of the range 'Luxury', will provide a visual experience that will grab your attention.

Performance

A direct-injection turbocharged 2.3-litre engine delivers an unrivalled performance of high output, ample low-end to mid-range torque with linear torque characteristics for a sophisticated ride, as well as the greater environmental-friendliness of improved fuel economy and reduced exhaust emissions.

In order to get the most out of this power performance, the CX-7 also has the Active Torque Split (ATS) system. An onboard computer using real-time data on steering angle, yaw rate, lateral G force and engine status, determines road surface conditions and driving conditions.

The data is fed into the Active Torque Split All-Wheel Drive system which adjusts front/rear wheel torque distribution between 100:0 and 50:50. In all road conditions optimum torque is distributed for maximum traction.

The suspension system of the CX-7 was designed in consideration to the torque output, dynamic performance and smooth suspension. The front suspension utilizes independent McPherson struts, which assists in agile maneuverability and flexibility that minimizes noise and vibration. The rear suspensions is a Multi-link suspension system (4 links per side). The higher number links per side allows greater precision in the control of wheel orientation. So even when the vehicle body is uneven, the tyres can maintain optimal position to the ground ensuring a good grip of the road surface.
