Are you the type of person who experiences 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and can't wipe the smile off your face? Then you'll probably get New Generation Mazda3 MPS. The super sporty, aggressive body that makes it look ready to pounce doesn't appeal to the faint hearted. The performance it delivers is for those who can handle it. If you're a true MPS driver, you'd know that the new bonnet scoop is only a hint at the power underneath. And that intercooling, direct injection and turbocharging is a potent combination, capable of pumping out 190kW and a massive 380Nm of torque from a 2.3 litre four-cylinder engine. You'd also get the fact that scorching power is nothing without the precision of torque-sensing limited slip differential and sports suspension.

Interior

Audio system

The Mazda3 MPS audio system delivers crisp, clean sounds. Featuring 6 speakers, an MP3 / WMA compatible 6-disc CD player and an auxilliary jack to connect your favourite MP3 player. MPS Luxury ups the ante even further with a prmium Bose® 242 watt amplifier and 10 speakers (including subwoofer). Both systems feature Bluetooth® audio for wireless music streaming from an A2DP enabled mobile phone or MP3 player.

Bluetooth and cruise control

A multi-function steering wheel provides easy and convenient operation of audio, Bluetooth® and cruise control functions. The Bluetooth system permits handsfree mobile phone connectivity and supports Hands-Free Profile (HFP) ver. 2.0 and Audio to Digital Profile (A2DP) for music streaming.

Boost gauge

Between the large tachometer and speedometer a visual indicator of boost pressure hints at the performance available from the 190kW 2.3 litre Direct Injection Spark Ignition (DISI) turbocharged engine. Instrument meters are blackout type with easy-to-read and viasually appealing amber and blue illumination.

Satellite Navigation

Finding your way has now become even easier with the standard satellite naviation system. Displayed through a 4.1 inch colour LCD screen and controlled via the conveniently located steering wheel switches it is both simple and intuitive to use.

Seating

Uniquely styled seats with a black and red graphic feature cloth inserts with leather bolsters. 8-way power adjustment for the driver's seat includes a 3-position memory function for storing three driver's favoured seating positions.

Smart keyless entry and push-button engine start

Mazda3 MPS is equipped with a smart keyless entry system and push-button engine start. By carrying the remote locking transmitter you can enter by simply pressing a button on either front door, then start up with push-button ease.

Exterior

Bonnet Scoop

The bonnet scoop improves intercooler efficiency by directing cooler air to the top mounted intercooler, boosting real world power and improving fuel economy (now 9.9 litres per 100km on combined cycle).

Design

Incorporating elements of Mazda's 'Nagare Flow' design language the Mazda3 MPS exhibits all the attributes of a serious hot hatch. From the aero bumper, unique sports grille and functional bonnet scoop up-front to the large wheels and rear roof spoiler at the rear, this is one serious looking machine and not for the faint hearted!

Headlamps

Mazda3 MPS is equiped with bright halogen headlamps with an auto on/off function. MPS Luxury adds Bi-Xenon headlamps with an Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS). On low beam the AFS equipped headlamps swivel up to 15 degress in the direction you're steering, illuminating more of the corner.

Rear Spoiler

The large rear roof spoiler not only looks the part but also contributes to improved aerodynamics. The spoiler feature an integrated high mount stop lamp.

Wheels

Large 18 inch alloy wheels with a three dimensional design borrowed from the iconic RX-8 are fitted with low profile performance rubber for superb grip on the road.

Aerodynamics

A front grille and body designed to improve air flow have combined to offer improved aerodynamic performance making the Mazda3 MPS one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars in its class. Mazda3 MPS owners reap the benefits through improved stability and enhanced fuel economy. Mazda3 MPS features a drag coefficient of just 0.32.

Chassis

The chassis of the Mazda3 MPS delivers the optimal balance between sporting prowess and ride refinement. Special reinforcements and increased use of high and ultra-high strength steel give the Mazda3 MPS greatly improved body rigidity and dynamic robustness.

Engine

Powered by the acclaimed 2.3 litre Direct Injection Spark Ignition (DISI) turbocharged engine, the Mazda3 MPS outputs 190kW of power at 5,5000rpm and 380Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. Responsive direct injection combines witha lightweight turbocharger for stunning acceleration. 85% of torque is available from just 2,000rpm while the 0-100km/h sprint is covered in just 6.1 seconds!

Steering

Electro Hydraulic power Assisted Steering (EHAPS) gives precise feedback and perfectly-weighted feel while contributing to improved fuel economy (9.9 litres per 100km on the combined cycle).

Suspension

MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension ensure agile response to steering input, superior roll control and a predictable, comfortable ride. the Mazda3 MPS includes modified spring rates, larger diameter stabiliser bars and special dampers to achieve higher roll stiffness and for improved control during cornering.

Transmission

The sporty 6-speed manual transmission in the Mazda3 MPS uses a wide gear ratio setting that can fully exploit the wide torque band of the 2.3 litre DISI turbocharged engine, with a sixth gear that contributes to a quieter ride and improved fuel economy. Triple-cone synchronizers for 1st-3rd and a double-cone synchronizer for 4th establish the right balance between a short, responsive shift and ease of operation.

Safety

Active Head Restraints

The front seats feature active head restraints designed to minimise whiplash in the event of a rear impact. As impact forces push the occupant into the seat back, the head restraint is pushed forwards minimising the distance the head has to travel before meeting the head restraint. The risk of neck injury is therefore dramatically reduced.

Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS)

Mazda3 MPS Luxury features Bi-Xenon headlamps with AFS. On low beam the AFS equipped headlamps swivel up to 15 degress in the direction you're steering, illuminating more of the corner and ensuring you spot obstacles in the road in plenty of time.

Airbags SRS

Front (driver and passenger), side (front) and curtain (front and rear) Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) airbags are standard. When combined with seatbelts featuring double pretensioners and load limiters, the risk of occupant injury in the event of an accident is significantly reduced.

Braking System

Large diameter disc brakes combined with key technologies such as an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and electronic Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) ensure that the braking performance of Mazda3 MPS is class-leading.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) combines with a Traction Control System (TCS) to prevent excessive understeer or oversteer by adjusting the braking force and torque delivered to individual wheels. It ensures that you stick to your desired line in even the most severe conditions.

MAIDAS

The Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System (MAIDAS) maintains the integrity of the occupant cell reducing the risk of serious injury. The body architecture features a 'Triple H' structure that disperses frontal impact energy, a rear frame that maximises rear impact absorption and ultra strong cross members that protect against side impacts.
